[Kobe City] Right from the residential area! ``Yuge Farm'' where you can enjoy the blessings of dairy farming in a cheese house
Founded in 1970, the farm is currently home to 45 cows, where freshly squeezed milk is bottled in a workshop next to the cowshed and processed into cheese while still fresh. In 1987, ``Cheese House Yalgoi'' opened.

Easy access is also an attraction! A homely ranch
Yuge Farm is located on the north side of Mt. Rokko at an altitude of 400 meters. It is easily accessible, about 20 minutes by car from the center of Kobe, and is visited by many repeat visitors from the Keihanshin area.
On the day of the visit, we took a train and a bus, which felt a bit like an excursion. A large wooden sign appeared about a seven-minute walk from the nearest bus stop! From here, we walked leisurely for about 600 meters up a gentle slope.
A total of 45 cows, including calves and growing cows, live freely every day, basking in the sunshine in the quiet grassland at the back of the ranch.
The free-range cows come to the barn, which is equipped with a 24-hour automatic milking system, at their own pace and whenever they like.
The precious milk from these cows, raised in such a stress-free environment, is bottled in a factory adjacent to the barn and processed into fresh cheese. We make sweets in the confectionery factory, and serve meals and desserts in the cheese house.
Ms. Kazuko Yuge (wife of the second-generation ranch owner, Tadao), affectionately referred to as "Okusan" by the guests, guided us around Cheese House Yargoi.
Original cheese dishes that can only be enjoyed here
Madame's recommended lunch set is herb-grilled local chicken with herbs and vegetables from her own garden. You can choose between mish bread with caraway seeds, which goes well with whey stew, or glutinous barley rice.
The specialty "whey stew" is a dish that many fans visit in anticipation of.
"Whey" is a by-product of cheese manufacturing and is also known as milk serum. It is a precious liquid packed with nutrients that are not inferior to milk, and here it is used in cooking, and is also released as an original skin care product.
"All of our sauces are made from ingredients sourced from the farm," says Kazuko.
All the vegetables, including steaming new potatoes, kale, wild arugula, and Swiss chard, are grown in our own garden. You'll be soothed by the aroma of freshly picked vegetables and herbs grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
"Fromage Frais," a fresh cheese with a refreshing sour taste, is one of Yuge Farm's specialties. It is a fresh cheese before it is aged, and you can enjoy its crumbly texture.
You can enjoy it as is, or as a dip for meat, vegetables, or bread.
This "whey stew" also has a refreshing sour taste. It is packed with vegetables and makes your body happy with every bite.
Enjoy a relaxing cafe time with a special dessert
After a delicious lunch, it's time for the long-awaited dessert. The beautifully presented plate will make you cheer as soon as it is brought to you!
There were three types of cake: fluffy fromage chiffon cake, simple rare cheesecake (with original blackberry sauce), and homemade ice cream, which was also garnished with fresh herbs.
After lunch, coffee time is a great time for chatting. Time passes in your own way while the fresh greenery outside the large windows is soothing and relaxing.
The popular cafe au lait is made with strong coffee and plenty of homemade milk. It is just the right amount of sweet without adding sugar, and you can really enjoy the taste of the milk!
Our soft serve ice cream, handmade from delicious milk from healthy cows, is a treat to enjoy during Golden Week and the summer holidays! We try to keep it simple by adding as few unnecessary ingredients as possible.
With every bite, the natural sweetness of the milk spreads throughout your mouth, and it's no wonder there are so many fans who look forward to it every year! (Sold in front of the confectionery workshop near the Cheese House / see the official website for details such as the period.)
Skin care products are also popular! Enjoy shopping!
The shop next to the restaurant is lined with a wide variety of items, from cheese and chiffon cake to honey, cookies, and skin care items. Of course, you are welcome to just come and shop!
The "Fromage Frais" I was interested in for lunch was in the refrigerated case. The cute children on the package are portraits of the three siblings of the Yuge family.
"It can be used in a variety of ways, both Japanese and Western, in your cooking," said the staff. Feel free to ask about recommended ways to eat it.
The "Fromage Chiffon Cake" (378 yen per slice) made in the confectionery workshop is a familiar dessert plate treat. With its fluffy texture, it would make a great gift.
This is the skin care product section. The "Whey Soap" (880 yen) and "Whey Lotion" (3,080 yen) make use of the moisturizing properties of the whey in the stew, and are safe for those with sensitive skin or atopic dermatitis.
Fromage frais has been made into easy-to-eat cookies and crackers! They come in bite-sized pieces with a crispy texture and are popular with children (3 types / 756 yen each). The salty "Petit Taro Crackers" that I bought as a souvenir went perfectly with beer!
How about having a wedding in a lush garden?
The spacious garden in front of the cheese house is a popular spot for outdoor lunches and tea when the weather is nice.
Additionally, since 1997 it has been used as a garden wedding venue, and has produced wedding ceremonies for over 100 couples.
A wedding ceremony unique to Yuge Farm, based on the concept of "hospitality handcrafted from scratch." We can accommodate a variety of styles, including small parties, after-parties, and band performances, to add color to your special day.
Many fans come from far away to enjoy the delicious lunches and sweets that can only be found here at Yuge Farm. Picking out souvenirs and strolling around is also a fun time.
In summer, you can enjoy the limited-edition milk soft serve ice cream with its addictive fresh milk taste, and in winter, you can warm up with a luxurious cheese fondue. Come and relax and forget about your busy daily life while being soothed by the pleasant breeze, the scent of herbs, and sometimes the sound of cows mooing.

There are many characteristics such as having a story to tell, overflowing with the thoughts of the creator, having a history, and being loved by the locals. Have you ever come across a special thing or experience that made you want to tell someone about it? And as a result of telling, someone new leads to something. We think that's what "good" is all about. In order to deliver such encounters to our customers, we discover Hyogo's good things based on the concept of "talk, communicate, and connect", and provide information that will shorten the emotional distance between customers and the region of Hyogo Prefecture.
