Latest update :

“Sumaura Suisan” farms seaweed and salmon.

The Sumaura Suisan direct sales store is a 1-minute walk from JR Suma Station, located between Sannomiya and Akashi. Spreading out in front of you is the Suma coastline, which is crowded with beachgoers in the summer.

``Sumaura Suisan'' is engaged in the cultivation of seaweed, and manufactures ``Suma Nori'', a brand of Kobe seaweed, from December to April of the following year every year. Nori cannot grow unless the seawater temperature is below 19℃, and it is difficult to farm it because it is affected by the weather. Processed seaweed can be purchased at Sumaura Suisan's direct sales store as well as online shops.

In addition, ``Sumaura Suisan'' set up cages on the Suma coast and began experimental salmon farming in 2018. In 2019, we began selling processed salmon products under the brand name "Kobe Suma Salmon."

In fact, this salmon is raised on a special diet containing Kobe wine residue. The harvested salmon is also sold to restaurants in Kobe city as processed products such as fillets, smoked salmon, and miso pickles.

Enjoy the scenery from the sea with a SUP experience

In addition to seaweed and salmon farming and fishing operations, ``Sumaura Suisan'' also engages in clam picking and marine leisure businesses.

The clam hunting season is held from the end of April to June every year, and during this period there are also events that even small children can enjoy, such as treasure hunts and touch pools. The venue is easily accessible, right next to the station, so it attracts many people every year.

During the swimming season from July to August, parasols and floats are available for rent, and swimwear and other swimming goods are also sold at the direct sales store.

We also offer SUP rentals and trial lessons from May to October. SUP is an abbreviation for stand up paddle board. This activity involves riding a surfboard and paddling along the surface of the water, and is currently becoming a hot topic as it is easy to enjoy.

SUP rentals are available for 1 hour. The price includes SUP board, paddle, life jacket rental fee, and changing room/hot shower usage fee, so be sure to bring swimsuits and other clothes that you don't mind getting wet.

In the ``First SUP Experience Course'' (3,500 yen), which is a trial lesson for first-timers held on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays only, you will first receive a lecture on the basics of how to ride a SUP on the beach.

The instructor is an active fisherman! He will also teach you about the fish that can be caught in this area and the fish that can be seen on the Suma coast, so please enjoy chatting with him while taking the lesson.

Once you've successfully ridden the board while sitting on the ocean, try a variety of other challenges, such as going a little farther from the beach or standing on the board.

One of the appeals of SUP is that you can move while standing. If you look around, you can see the ocean and mountains, and enjoy a completely different scenery than on land. On a clear day, you can clearly see Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Awaji Island, and it's very refreshing.

At the end of the trial lesson, all participants will be able to take a commemorative photo, so we recommend participating in a group of friends and family. Children can use it from elementary school age. Please note that one adult per elementary school student is required, and children in fourth grade and above are allowed to ride without an adult. Children under 3rd grade of elementary school are not allowed to ride the boat alone.

Recommended as a souvenir! Seaweed and salmon sold at the direct sales store

After enjoying SUP to the fullest, check out the products sold at the direct sales store.

In addition to processed products from seaweed and salmon farmed by Sumaura Suisan, the store has a wide selection of products, including original T-shirts and marine items. In particular, the seaweed packaging comes with a zipper, making it easy to use and recommended as a souvenir.

The ``Yaki Nori'' (500 yen) is made with fragrant, first-picked seaweed, and boasts the melt-in-your-mouth texture that only comes from first-picked seaweed. The seasoned seaweed (500 yen) is seasoned with a slightly thick sauce and goes perfectly with white rice, making it so delicious that you'll want to eat multiple bowls of it.

The recommended item is the ``Shio Nori'' (550 yen), which is seasoned with sesame oil and salt. The fragrant aroma of sesame oil and the salty taste make it a perfect snack to go with alcohol. Of course, it goes well with rice, so you can also wrap it in rice balls and eat it.

At the direct sales store, the ``Salted Nori Soft'' (450 yen) topped with this ``Suma Nori'' is popular. The soft serve ice cream flavors include vanilla, matcha, condensed milk strawberry, and seasonal flavors. Eating soft-serve ice cream while looking out at the ocean is something special.

``Kobe Suma Sodachi Smoked Salmon'' (700 yen), which is made from ``Kobe Suma Salmon,'' can be used as a salad or added to pasta. It's delicious as an accompaniment to alcohol or eaten on its own.

“Original T-shirts” (3,000 yen each) are also available this year.<br>

Suma Beach has become even easier to use, with a promenade constructed by Kobe City. You may have an image of swimming in the sea, but Sumaura Suisan also has activities that you can enjoy outside of summer, such as clam picking and SUP. The direct sales store is open all year round, so we recommend stopping by while strolling along the coast.
