Each year, the hot spring town of Inatori Onsen comes to life with beautiful Hina dolls and hanging decorations. A century-old traditional craftsmanship unique to Inatori, the Hina hanging dolls are dedicated to girls in hopes of their healthy growth.

Visitors can see these beautiful displays at several facilities in Inatori Onsen at the beginning of each year. The next Hanging Hina Doll Festival will be held from January 20 to March 31, 2024.

Hina no Yakata Exhibition Hall

Acting as the main venue for the town's festival, Hina no Yakata is an exhibition hall displaying beautiful Hina doll decorations, old and new!

Visitors can see craftwork from different prefectures and towns across Japan such as decorations from, Sagemon- Yanagawa, Kasafuku from Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture, and Fukuoka Prefecture - the creator of one of Japan's top three hanging decorations!

Restaurant Naburatoto

The golden sea bream specialty restaurant Naburatoto will be displaying hanging Hina dolls from February 17 to March 10. The exhibition has 20 items made from 2,200 individual pieces.

Hachiman Shrine

Steeped in tradition, this ancestral shrine of Inatori beckons visitors with its timeless allure.

The Ema-den Hall, adorned with delicate hanging Hina dolls, is renowned as the venue for the traditional Sanbaso dance performed by local children each July during the shrine's festival.

During the Hanging Hina Doll Festival, visitors can see an impressive display featuring approximately 550 items, presented in six exquisite pairs.

Susanoo Shrine Hina Doll Tiered Display

Since its establishment in 1617, Susanoo Shrine has stood as the revered guardian of Inatori and the encompassing sea.

Its distinguished reputation is further solidified by the extraordinary 118-tier display, showcasing Hina dolls and seasonal decorations, earning the shrine an unparalleled distinction as the site with the highest number of tiers for Hina doll exhibitions in Japan.
