During the Doll's Festival at Tono Machiya, shops and public facilities are decorated with dolls from the Edo, Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods, as well as Tono's unique Mizukibina dolls. Machinaka Goshuin tour (center of Tono station)

Special exhibition “Tono Hina Dolls” (Tono City Museum)

The Tono City Museum introduces the nature, lifestyle, culture, and history of the people of Tono through a variety of videos and exhibits centered around the "Tono Monogatari." The Hina dolls passed down in Tono from the Edo period to the Meiji and Taisho periods are held as valuable materials. A special exhibition will be held focusing on.

23rd Tono Dobekko Festival (Tono Furusato Village)

Enjoy special doburoku and Tono country cuisine at Magariya in Tono Furusato Village.

``Dobekko'' refers to the nostalgic cloudy sake ``Doburoku'' that was specially prepared for the festival by a sake brewer in Tono. The Dobekko Festival is held at the thatched-roofed Nambu Magariya house where people lived with horses.While drinking raw Doburoku, which can only be enjoyed at this festival, you can enjoy local cuisine, traditional tales, and local stories. This is a winter festival where you can enjoy the entertainment of Kagura.

40th Tono Folk Tale Festival

A quaint folk tale from Tono that begins with, "Once upon a time, there was nothing..."

At the Tono Folk Tale Festival, storytellers will perform live performances of folk tales passed down in Tono. In addition to the Tono Folk Tale Storyteller's Association, students from the city's elementary schools will also be performing, allowing you to enjoy a variety of Tono folk tales.

49th Citizen's Stage Tono Monogatari Fantasy "Ukotori no Fuchi" (Tono Civic Center Large Hall)

A civic drama based on stories related to Tono Monogatari.

Every year, the theme is a story related to the Tales of Tono, and the cast, script, and direction are all performed by Tono citizens.

The 49th performance is based on the 35th episode of Tono Monogatari Shūi.

Synopsis: ``Mitsu and Riichi vowed to have a future together, but their families are not on good terms, and in order to be able to get married, they go to Ushitori Shrine, the god of matchmaking.One day, Mitsu is kidnapped by thieves. Riichi was killed and lost while looking for Mitsu. When Mitsu was rescued, he was told by his family that Riichi was no longer in this world, and in desperation, he threw himself into the depths of Ukotori. Put it away.”
