What is a Sky Poppy?

The Poppies in the Sky is a poppy field that takes place every year from mid-May to mid-June at the Chichibu Plateau Ranch (Sainokuni Fureai Ranch), which straddles the towns of Minano and Higashichichibu in Saitama Prefecture. Approximately 12 million red, white, and pink poppies bloom on the plateau at an altitude of about 500 meters, creating a beautiful contrast between the blue sky and the green mountains.

During the event, there will be events such as sales of local gourmet food and local specialties, and the opening of temporary parking lots. Tourist information and product sales for Minano Town and Higashichichibu Village are also available at the venue.

The Sky Poppies venue is not barrier-free because it uses mountain pastures. If you are using a wheelchair, the walkways at the venue are covered with wood chips, so wheelchairs cannot pass through with the exception of some areas. There are no smoking areas, and street parking is dangerous so please avoid it.

You can also take a Seibu Tourist Bus to the Poppy in the Sky venue. It takes about 40 minutes to walk up and 30 minutes to walk down from the Misawa Post Office bus stop to the Poppy venue.
