It's like a secret base! A hidden spot where you can ride the swings as much as you like at Natsume Park

Hello. I'm Mariko, a Nakano Tourism Reporter. I'm exploring various parks every day as outing spots for my 1-year-old and 2-year-old children. I'd like to introduce some parks around Shin-Nakano Station in Tokyo. This time we went to Natsume Park.

A park in a place like this?

The entrance to the park is located in a back alley in a residential area, about 4 minutes from Exit 1 of Shin-Nakano Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. It is a narrow entrance that you might easily miss, but it is accessible with a stroller.

A sign for "Natsume Park" welcomes you. Pass by it and enter the park.

This is actually a hidden gem. You can ride the swings as much as you like!

It's a small park with a sandbox, spiky playground equipment that looks like insects, and swings. But the kids are delighted. The reason is that they can ride the swings as much as they like! In larger parks, there are lots of friends. There are often lines for the swings, and it's not uncommon to have to count to 10 and have to take turns. In that respect, Natsume Park isn't very crowded even on holidays (it was the middle day of a three-day weekend, but we had it all to ourselves), and there are four swings so they can play to their heart's content.

My daughter loves swings. When there is a line of people waiting, she cries because she can't wait, and when it's her turn and it's time for her to take over, she cries too... but today she seems happy to be able to ride as much as she likes.

My son had a snack in the sandbox. After his snack, he tried out the spiky play equipment and had fun swinging on the swings next to my daughter.

There is a water fountain and a hand washing area, but no toilets. If you need a toilet, it is convenient to use the toilets at Sugiyama Park, which is just a few minutes walk away. (There is a diaper changing station.) This park is perfect for a short walk or just to drop in. There are convenience stores and supermarkets nearby, so you can buy drinks and snacks (but please make sure to take your trash home with you!). Natsume Park may be small, but it is not to be underestimated, and it was a very satisfying experience.
