Cherry blossom trees along the Maruyama River (Best time to see them: late March to early April)

Somei-yoshino cherry trees along a straight road that continues for about 2km from the roadside station Yabu COINOBA VILLAGE.

Saihoji Temple (Best time to see: late March to early April)

This weeping cherry tree can be enjoyed from National Route 9. It is lit up at night during the flowering season.

Saihoji is a Shingon Buddhist temple. It is said that the temple was built from a single large cherry tree for the father's mother, who found it difficult to visit temples deep in the mountains. The principal image of the temple, the Amida statue, and the Jizo Bodhisattva statue in the Kannon Hall on the temple grounds are valuable Buddhist statues from the Kamakura period, and many other stone relics remain, including the Thirteen Buddhas, which are designated as cultural assets by the town.

This is the largest Edohigan cherry tree in the prefecture, designated as a national natural monument. The tree is 13.8m tall, has a trunk circumference of 6.3m, and is said to be over 1,000 years old. It is a famous cherry blossom spot where the lord of Izushi Domain (present-day Izushi Town, Toyooka City) used to come to view the cherry blossoms, and is also called "Senzakura" (meaning "cherry blossom of the hermit") by local people. There is a parking lot at the trailhead, but it is very crowded on weekends.

Cherry blossoms at the former Kumatsigi Elementary School. Mt. Hyonosen is visible in front, and if you come at the right time, you can see the remaining snow on Mt. Hyonosen and the cherry blossoms!
Because of the high altitude, the cherry blossoms bloom late, starting from mid-April.

Many people come to see the magnolia trees in spring and the white bush clover in early autumn. The magnolia trees in the temple grounds come in eight varieties of six colors, including white, pink, red, brocade, purple, and yellow, which bloom in turn from early April to early May. In autumn, from early September, about 500 white bush clover flowers bloom in abundance, filling the temple grounds and the approach to the temple. As a temple of flowers, the "flower sermons" are a popular tourist attraction at Koshoji Temple from spring to autumn. Mizubasho Park is a facility developed into a park in the wetlands near the top of Oya Kabosaka, where skunk cabbage blooms in its natural habitat. As a rare species of skunk cabbage that grows wild in the westernmost part of Japan, it has been designated a Hyogo Prefecture Natural Monument. The park also has a rest area with an observation deck that offers a great view. The park is open every year from mid-April to early May, when the skunk cabbage blooms.
