Iwai Water Park

The sight of 300,000 trumpet daffodils and the 1km long rows of cherry blossom trees is truly spectacular. In early April, when the daffodils are in bloom, the area is bustling with visitors, and food trucks are also selling them. Locals also sell daffodils with bulbs.

Please be aware that the roads in the area are narrow.

Agatsuma Gorge Rail Bike Agattan

A section of the railway line that became unused due to the replacement of the Yamba Dam is now being used as a bicycle trolley attraction.

A pair of people pedal the electrically assisted bicycle-style trolley, and one or two people can ride in the support chair.

This is a fun attraction where you can feel the "clank clank" vibrations that are transmitted from the joints in the rails.

The number of trolleys is limited, so we recommend making a reservation in advance.

The service is suspended during the winter from mid-December to mid-March.

Firefly Village Hakoshima Spring

Hakoshima Spring has been selected as one of the 100 best springs in Japan. Approximately 30,000 tons of water springs out from the base of a 400-year-old large cedar tree every day. Many people come from far away to collect Hakoshima Spring every day.

Hakoshima Spring is famous for the beauty of its water, and for the large number of fireflies that fly around from mid-June to mid-July. Local groups have created an environment that is comfortable for the fireflies, making it a valuable place where you can observe the naturally occurring Genji and Heike fireflies.

Please observe etiquette when viewing fireflies, such as refraining from using flashlights or taking photos within the firefly conservation area.

What is the "Devil's Tongue Burger" in Higashiagguma Town!

Higashiagatsuma Town is a major producer of konnyaku potatoes. Konnyaku means "devil's tongue" in English. As part of a campaign to revitalize the town, they are selling a unique burger made with konnyaku.

You can enjoy Devil's Tongue Burgers in creative and original versions at each store, such as sushi burgers and sweet burgers.

Salmon in a landlocked prefecture?! Yusui-raised "Ginhikari"

Gunma's highest quality rainbow trout, "Ginhikari," can be enjoyed at Azuma Fish Farm in the Higashi district and Sakae Sushi in the Haramachi district, and you can also purchase pressed sushi made with Ginhikari at the Agatsumakyo Roadside Station.

Regular rainbow trout matures in two years and starts to lose its flavor. However, Ginhikari only matures in the third year, so its flavor doesn't deteriorate. In addition to its flavor, it is also known as a healthy food with high protein, low fat, and high EPA and DHA content.

Fujiiya Masaemon, a long-established confectionery shop beloved by locals

Mt.Iwabitsu

Mt.Iwabitsu is characterized by its rugged rock face on the south side. Although it is a low mountain at 802m, it has a chain section and is visited by many climbers.

Halfway up the mountain are the ruins of Iwabitsu Castle, a nationally designated historic site and one of Japan's Top 100 Castles. Making good use of the rock walls and terrain, the castle was said to be impregnable.

Agatsuma Gorge Roadside Station

This roadside station is located at the entrance to the nationally designated scenic spot "Agastuma Gorge." It was renovated in 2024.

Not only can you purchase fresh agricultural products, but there is also a foot bath, a park, a dog run, a day spa, and restaurants, making it a facility the whole family can enjoy.

The roadside station also sells limited edition collaborative goods with the hugely popular manga "NARUTO," and on weekends the staff dress up as ninjas, so you can "meet ninjas."

The Shuriken Soft Serve, which has shuriken-shaped cookies stuck in it and melts smoothly in your mouth, is also popular.

You can also undergo authentic ninja training in the clear air.

Sennin Cave

Sennin-Kutsu, located in the Sakaue district of Higashiagatsuma Town, is a cave with a mysterious atmosphere. There is a parking lot along Prefectural Route 58, and from there you can reach the cave by climbing a mountain path about 200m.

The entrance is spacious, measuring 8m wide, 14m high and 26m deep, and inside are rare stone statues of the Eighteen Arhats and a statue of the Bodhisattva Kannon, overwhelming all visitors.

As the path is somewhat steep, we recommend that you wear trekking shoes and comfortable clothing.
