3. Data and Calling Plans

GTN 5G Prepaid

The GTN 5G Prepaid SIM card includes voice calling and high-speed 5G data for either 30 or 90 days. It comes with unlimited domestic calls (with no time restrictions) and full access to Japan’s nationwide 5G network, providing fast and reliable internet throughout the country. This plan is perfect for short-term stays such as study abroad, business trips, or temporary visits back to Japan.

*All listed prices include tax.
*Data speeds will be reduced to a maximum of 128 Kbps once the data limit is reached.
*The SIM connects via 5G or LTE networks, but actual speeds and quality may vary by region and time of day.
*For the 90-day plan, the data allowance resets at the beginning of each month, and any unused data will not carry over to the next month.
*Unlimited calling applies to most domestic calls within Japan and is free of charge with no time limits. However, certain numbers—such as 0570 Navi Dial—are exceptions and will incur a fee of 27.5 yen per 30 seconds (including tax). International call rates vary by country.
**There is a monthly usage cap of 5,000 yen for combined domestic and international calls. If you exceed this limit, outgoing calls, SMS, and internet access will be suspended for the rest of the month, though you can still receive calls and messages.
*SMS messages cost 3.3 yen (tax included) per message within Japan and 100 yen (tax-exempt) per message sent internationally.

(1) A valid passport
(2) A government-issued ID from a foreign government or an international organization recognized by the Japanese government. This document must include your name and address and must be valid at the time of presentation.
