This garden is a privately-established moss phlox spot that Mr. Mishima, a resident of Kutchan Town, has been cultivating all by himself from seedlings and gradually working to increase the number of plants.
The area is approximately 4,000㎡! It is open to the public free of charge.
It is becoming known as a "secret spot" among locals and tourists alike.

Blooming time of Mishima's Moss Phlox Garden

The best time to see Mishima's moss pinks is usually from late May to early June (depending on the weather).

Spring in Hokkaido comes later than in Honshu, so the scenery can truly be described as a "late-coming gift of spring." The blossoming season varies from year to year, so we recommend checking the blossoming information before heading out.

Mr. Mishima, who lives in Kutchan Town, has been carefully cultivating these plants from seedlings.

The greatest attraction of this garden is the handmade feel, cultivated with great care by local residents. Mishima, whose hobby was gardening, first started growing moss phlox in his own garden. Now, the moss phlox spreads across the entire 4,000 square meter site, bringing the joy of spring to all who visit.

All maintenance is done by the owner himself, and the space exudes warmth and love.

Things to note for enjoying the experience

①There is no parking lot as this is a private residence. There are houses nearby, so please refrain from parking on the street or entering any area other than the garden.
②Please refrain from shouting or making noise. Please also take your trash home with you.
3) Please refrain from visiting at night or early in the morning. Mr. Mishima has kindly opened his private garden to the public, so we ask for your cooperation.

Access from Sapporo and New Chitose Airport

Access from Sapporo

About 2 hours by car from Sapporo city.
Take the Do-o Expressway, exit at Niki IC and head towards Kutchan. This is a perfect route for a spring drive.

Access from New Chitose Airport

It is convenient to rent a car from the airport. It takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes one way via National Route 276 and Bifue Pass.
It's a pleasant journey with views of Mt. Yotei and the rural scenery along the way.
