In 1975, following the 1972 reversion of Okinawa to Japanese sovereignty and the subsequent Okinawa International Ocean Expo, Okinawa Harborview Hotel was established as a premier city hotel in Naha. Its name, "Harbor View," is a legacy of the site's past. Prior to the hotel's construction, the location was home to the "HARBOR VIEW CLUB," a private social club frequented by American officials of the Ryukyu Islands. The nearby presence of a river, offering a picturesque view of the harbor, further contributed to the enduring relevance of the name.

Traditional and Contemporary

The HARBOR VIEW CLUB once served as a salon, welcoming US military and government officials as well as prominent Japaneseand Ryukyuan figures from government and business. Okinawa Harborview Hotel inherited this tradition, aiming to become Okinawa's leading city hotel.Today, it thrives as a premier destination, blending traditional hospitality with world-class service, and is dedicated to creating a "memorable journey" for every guest.

Furthermore, on May 13, 2002, Okinawa Harborview Hotel received the 11th BELCA Award in the Long-Life Category from the Building and Equipment Long-Life Cycle Association (BELCA). This prestigious award recognized the hotel's exceptional design and maintenance, marking the first such honor for a building in Okinawa Prefecture and only the second for a hotel nationwide.
