A short trip through the snowy scenery on the JR Tadami Line

The JR Tadami Line runs from Koide Station in Uonuma City to Fukushima Prefecture . This local line is popular for its autumn foliage, but it's also beautiful in the winter when it snows! We'll introduce a itinerary that combines the Tadami via public transportation with snowy scenery and sightseeing in Uonuma City .

11:30 Departure from Koide Station (Minami Echigo Kanko Bus bound for Anazawa)

*The bus stop is on the right side after you exit the station ticket gate. *If you arrive at the station early, please wait in the waiting room at the station. (There is no shop, but there are vending machines.) *If you are coming to the station by car, there is a paid parking lot at the liquor store "Fujiya" on the right side of the station. Please inquire in advance if you wish to use the parking lot!

13:40-15:00 Meguro Residence

This thatched-roof farmhouse is a nationally designated important cultural property. In winter, it is covered in snow, creating a very picturesque snowy landscape in the garden. There is also an attached museum!

15:10-16:10 Echigo Yukikurakan (Tamagawa Sake Brewery) This facility is located at Tamagawa Sake Brewery, one of two sake breweries in Uonuma City . It is notable for its "snow room," which can also be visited.

16:20-16:30 A-Co-op Morimon Store A supermarket frequented by locals. You can also buy Uonuma Koshihikari rice as a souvenir!

This is an authorized dealer that sells sake from Midori River Sake Brewery, one of two sake breweries in Uonuma City . It is open until 6pm, so please come early if you want to drop by! *Tastings are not available.

Meguro Residence

The Meguro Residence, a nationally designated important cultural property, features a large thatched roof. Surrounded by pure white snow, the Meguro Residence looks even more charming. Please dress warmly when you visit!

Echigo Yukikurakan (Tamagawa Brewery)

At Echigo Yukikurakan, you can sample around 10 different types of sake at any one time. You can also tour the Yukikura (snow storage facility) where the sake is stored, and the sake brewery. The tour takes about 15 minutes, and can be conducted even by one person.

A Coop Sumon store

This supermarket is a favorite among locals. When you go to a supermarket in a different area from where you normally live, you can find things you don't normally see and products that are unique to that area, which is a refreshing experience. Of course, you can also buy Uonuma Koshihikari rice as a souvenir!

Fujiya

[Extra] JR Tadami LIne

The JR Tadami Line connects Koide Station in Uonuma City to Aizuwakamatsu Station Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture . This time's itinerary was a short trip version between Echigo-Suhara Station and Koide Station, where you can enjoy the snowy countryside. However, from Echigo-Suhara Station towards Fukushima Prefecture, you can enjoy beautiful valley scenery that is different from the countryside, so feel free to customize your course and enjoy it♪
