The Isuien Garden in Nara was designated a place of scenic beauty. The main garden was constructed in the Edo period while the back garden was constructed in the Meiji period.
Immediately adjacent to Isuien Garden is the World Heritage Site, Todai-ji. The temple grounds contain structures that symbolize Japanese Buddhist culture including Nara’s Great Buddha statue, the Great South Gate, a gate that was constructed during the Kamakura period, and more. Todai-ji is about a three minute walk from Isuien Garden.
