Tambara Lavender Park: A Breathtaking Sea of Lavender in Eastern Japan
Located in the Tambara Highlands of Gunma Prefecture, the beautiful Tambara Lavender Park becomes an ocean of lavender in summer, from mid July until mid August.
The Tambara Highlands are a hugely popular summer getaway spot for those living and staying in Tokyo. Due to its altitude, the average temperature in August is 25°C (77°F), a whole 5°C (41°F) cooler than the Tokyo metropolitan area.
The park is not only stunningly beautiful but offers some unique, highly Instagrammable lavender-flavor treats that cannot be tasted elsewhere! These include their purple lavender soft-serve ice cream, lavender scones and even cold lavender ramen with purple noodles!!
Visitors can also purchase original lavender-based products at the park, such as essential oils, soaps, lip and hand creams, room mists, and potpourri.
The park also offers a popular lavender-picking experience, where visitors can pick and take home lavender to use as potpourri or keep as dried flowers.
Many other flowers can be seen blooming in the park too, and visitors can also enjoy stunning gardens of sunflowers and hydrangeas.
If you find yourself in the Tokyo area until mid-August, do visit the Tambara Lavender Park for an unforgettable day of fun outdoors!
