Yoro Sake Brewery: High-quality sake made with water from the clear Hijikawa River
Yoro Sake Brewery is a sake brewery located in Hijigawa-cho, Ozu City, founded in 1921.
We thoroughly control the temperature of the subterranean water from the Hijikawa River, a clear stream pumped from approximately 10 meters underground, and determine the length of time the rice is soaked depending on the climate and the quality of the rice that day, allowing us to consistently produce high-quality sake.
In addition, because most of the work is done carefully by hand, it is a valuable sake that can only be produced in small quantities.
Recovery from heavy rains in western Japan
Yoro Sake Brewery continues to produce high-quality sake, but in 2018, the brewery suffered severe damage from the heavy rains in western Japan, with water flooding up to 3 meters above the floor, forcing them to temporarily suspend production.
However, thanks to the support of local residents and the Sake Brewers Association, the brewery continues to produce sake in the same location and using the same method.
As a remnant of those days, there is a clock in the back of the storehouse that stops at the time of the flood.
Recommended products from Yoro Sake Brewery
1. Kaze no Sato Honjozo Sake
This is a sake that allows you to enjoy the flavor of rice in a refreshing drink.
Pairing it with food will bring out the flavor of the ingredients.
It is recommended to drink it cold.
2. Junmai Daiginjo Uzu
Ushu is a Junmai Daiginjo sake with a brewing ratio (how much the raw rice is polished) of less than 50%.
This sake, named after Ozu's famous ``Ukai'', goes well with seasonal grilled fish, making it an extremely perfect sake to accompany a meal.
These alcoholic beverages can be purchased not only at Yoro Sake Brewery, but also at ``Machi no Eki Asamoya'' and ``Sakano Sawada.''

Ozu City is located in the western part of Shikoku, in the region known as Nanyo, and is an area centered around the Ozu Basin, facing the Seto Inland Sea to the north and the Shikoku Mountains to the south. The clear Hijikawa River flows through the center of the city, and as its name suggests, the river curves like an elbow as it runs through the town, bringing many blessings to the city, including nature, history, culture, and local specialties. Remnants of the city's prosperity as a castle town around Ozu Castle during the Edo period still live on the banks of the Hijikawa River.
