The Amami region belongs to a subtropical oceanic climate. As a result, the climate is hot throughout the year, with an average temperature of 20°C.

Amami's representative virgin mangrove forest is a forest of trees that grows in subtropical estuary wetlands and coastal tidal flats that take advantage of these geographical conditions.

Mangroves are made up of mehirugi and ohirugi. The estuary area is home to more than 71 hectares of virgin mangrove forest, and has been designated as a national national park and special protection area.

The ``black rabbit'' is a rabbit found only in Amami Oshima and Tokunoshima in the world. The ancestor of the European rabbit.

One theory is that it lived between 5 million and 3 million years. This rabbit has smaller eyes and ears and shorter legs than other rabbits.

However, he is an expert at digging holes. During the day they spend their time in dug burrows, and at night they emerge from the burrows to be active.
