Tannan district is located almost in the center of Fukui prefecture. It is a place where traditional crafts such as Echizen washi paper, Echizen lacquerware, and Echizen pottery are produced, and it is also home to Sabae city, which is the number one producer of eyeglass frames in Japan, making it a thriving manufacturing area. It is also an area rich in seafood and mountain produce, making it a recommended place for those who want to enjoy gourmet food.

"Only here, experience making authentic Echizen washi paper with passion at RYOZO!! / RYOZO - Yanase Ryozo Paper Mill -"

Experience the traditional techniques of Echizen washi paper making.

"Kana-rakusui-shi" is a traditional Echizen washi paper technique in which a metal mold is placed on the paper and a pattern is imprinted on it using the force of water. RYOZO is the only place in the production area where you can experience this. You can enjoy making two types of washi paper (decorative washi paper and kan-rakusui-shi). You can dry the washi paper you make on the spot and take it home. You can also enjoy looking for souvenirs at the attached shop, where all items are 20% off.

Create a one-of-a-kind vase.

Hanabidro is a glass tube vase that miraculously prolongs the life force of flowers just by arranging them with tap water. The glass tube is combined with a wooden base from Echigo and printed with your favorite photo or illustration. You can create a one-of-a-kind vase. The simple design allows you to freely arrange wildflowers in it.
