The NPO AEA conducts volunteer activities in which children and their families work together to guide guests from overseas. During local traditional events and events, children can actually converse in the English they have learned and interact with people from different cultures, improving their communication skills and developing rich personalities. I would like to play a role in English education that fosters the ability to think for oneself, solve problems, and communicate to others.

It's too hot!!!

I can not stop sweating

The first thing we talked about after matching with the guests was that it was too hot. It was almost 35 degrees that day, and on top of that, it was a clear, cloudless day with the sun shining down on us, so it was incredibly hot. With the heat, even the fan was useless. I was wearing a yukata, but it was too hot for my taste. So I had some shaved ice. It was delicious, even though it was hot. If you're not used to the heat, I recommend you avoid wearing a yukata and wear light clothing instead!!

Relax with tea

The joys of Seikeien

There is a place in Kumagaya City that holds tea ceremonies. Usually it is held about once a month, but during the three days of the festival it is held every day until 5pm. There is a limit to the number of participants, so please be aware of that. However, the most impressive thing is the beautiful buildings and gardens. The tea, sweets, and stories are all elegant and Japanese. It is also recommended as a way to cool off.

The joy of food stalls

In response to the requests of the children of the guests, we went to stalls with shooting games, lotteries, etc. I had never done such things myself, so it was a lot of fun. Now, I will tell you about the drawbacks of these stalls!

Shooting gallery (500-600 yen)

It's a game where you put a cork in a long gun and aim for what you want. It's surprisingly easy to knock it down, but the rules often require the prize to fall off the shelf. It's very difficult to knock it down. It's not the big prizes that are easy to knock down, but small sweets and the like. Sometimes it's not worth the price, so I don't really recommend it.

Goldfish scooping (400-500 yen)

You scoop up the goldfish in the aquarium with a tool called a poi. You can take these goldfish home, but we don't recommend it. So we recommend that you return them to the aquarium. If you tell them you're returning them to the aquarium, they will often let you try again. If you don't like fish, be careful.

Yo-yo fishing (300-400 yen)

This is a game where you fish for balloons filled with water that are floating on the water. This is my number one recommendation. Because it's reasonably priced and you're guaranteed to get one. And having just one makes it feel like a festival.

lastly

Everyone was smiling despite the heat!

It was an extremely hot day, but everyone looked happy and full of life. I'm sure I felt the same way. I made new friends and had many experiences. Festivals are fun, but it's all for nothing if you get sick from the heat, and it's also important not to spend too much money! You'll regret it later!! The information about the food stalls can be applied to any festival, so please use it as a reference and enjoy your summer!!!
