We would like to introduce Nakano City Office in Tokyo, which will be relocated on May 7, 2024. Equipped with parent-child restrooms and diaper vending machines. Fun events are also held on the first floor!

Latest update :

Hello! I'm Metropoli-chan V, Nakano's mascot. I've recently become a Nakano Tourism Reporter. I'd be happy if you called me "Metoko-chan"! I usually host festivals and events as a Nakano Ward Tourism Ambassador, and sing Nakano songs such as "Nakanonanokana". I'm also a mother of two children, ages 3 and 1. Metoko-chan was selected to attend the Nakano City New Hall Tour (April 2024), so I went!

The exterior is cool. I'm curious to see what's inside.

Up until now, it's been difficult to go to a  city office with a child in a stroller or baby carrier. The aisles are narrow, and there are no restrooms that can accommodate a stroller. So, I decided to take a look around the new  city office from a parent's perspective!

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how spacious it was! Strollers and wheelchairs could easily pass through. There was also a priority elevator, which was very appreciated.

There was a kids' room on the third floor.

Is it okay to let them play so freely? It's reassuring when the waiting time is long. The call number is conveniently displayed on the monitor here.

Parent-child toilets and diaper changing beds.

It also provides hot water, which is great for making milk.

It's really great that there are vending machines for liquid milk and diapers. I can't count the number of times I've forgotten to bring them or lost them and been in despair.

The best part is the rooftop garden on the 11th floor.

It feels great! You can see Nakano Sun Plaza and Tokyo Skytree! It's a great place to rest.

Even when I was exhausted from walking or shopping, I often found myself at a loss because I couldn't find a bench. It's difficult to go into a cafe with a stroller, so it's nice to be able to take a break here.

The assembly hall is also cool!

"I want to observe the assembly, but I'm with my child..." You don't have to hesitate. There is also a parent-child observation room with a window, so the hurdle to observing has been lowered.

On the first floor, there is an information corner called "Nakano no Nakaniwa" and an indoor event space called "Nakanoba."

I'm looking forward to hosting various events here!

There is a cafe called "Nakanoya NYAcafe" right in front of the building. It also serves as a restaurant, and offers drinks, sweets, and ramen.

It's connected to a park, so it's a good place to take a short break. I've been waiting for a place like this!

Oh yes, the dogs had also moved to the square.

In addition, the Azalea Welfare Shop will continue to operate.

I was disappointed that the new Nakano City Hall is a little far from Nakano Station, but it's very comfortable and great, even for families with children. It's truly futuristic!

Nakano city is located in the western part of Tokyo's 23 wards. It is especially famous for Nakano Broadway, known as the "holy land" of subculture, but it also has many other tourist attractions such as historic shrines and temples and gourmet food. While the area around Nakano Station is undergoing a "once in a century" redevelopment, the town is undergoing change, and the town is bustling with old-fashioned, friendly shopping streets, making Nakano a very diverse city. This diversity is also what makes it a city with a population of about 17,000 people from about 120 countries.
