What is Fukunone?

Welcome to Fukui, everyone. Fukunone is a guidebook packed with experiences for your trip to Fukui.

Finally, the Hokuriku Shinkansen arrived in Fukui in the spring of 2024. Amid a mood of joy and celebration, Fukunone has prepared a variety of plans that will allow you to experience the deep charm of Fukui.

You will be greeted by the hospitable locals. Why not enjoy chatting with them and experiencing something unique to Fukui?

This is the start of a journey full of wonderful encounters that you would not notice by simply visiting tourist spots.

This time, we have created three courses from Fukunone vol.11 😄 All of them start in front of Fukui Station, making them perfect for tourists! Now, let us introduce this model course, "③ Refresh and Heal with Fukuchari Course"!

3. Refresh and Heal with Fukuchari Course

Today we will introduce "③ Refresh and Heal with Fukuchari Course". Around Fukui Station, there is a convenient vehicle called "Fukuchari"! "Fukuchari" is an electric assist bicycle sharing service. The cost is 110 yen per use (tax included) for the first 30 minutes. There is also a 1-day pass :) There are 13 ports (rental and return locations) in the center of Fukui City, and you can rent and return the bicycle at any of them ✨

This time, we will introduce you to an experience that will refresh your mind and body using the "Fukuchari"! Let's get started!

This model course starts from JR Fukui Station.

First, let's rent a Fukuchari (electric bicycle) to accompany us on our journey!

There are three Fukuchari ports near JR Fukui Station:

・Welcome Center (Fukui City Tourist Information Center)

・Fukui City Tourism Exchange Center

・Bicycle parking lot on the north side of Fukui Station

By the way... Fukui is famous as the dinosaur kingdom. Many dinosaurs are waiting for you around Fukui Station! There are 21 dinosaur monuments in total...! And there are also wall decorations around the station!

"Experience making the famous "Tofu Dengaku" and "Konnyaku Oden" dishes" @ Asuwayama ATARASHIYA

Just 20 minutes by Fukuchari from Fukui Station! We would like to introduce you to the "Food making experience of the famous "Tofu Dengaku" and "Konnyaku Oden"" at Asuwayama ATARAHSIYA, where you can taste the food of Fukui, packed with the history of Asuwayama.

Tofu dengaku and konnyaku oden are famous dishes that have been passed down at the Hanami teahouse on Mt. Asuwayama. Enjoy the healthy and low-calorie food culture of Fukui! Even children can easily make them, so enjoy the experience along with other spots that the whole family can enjoy.

After enjoying a leisurely meal of local Fukui and Asuwayama cuisine at Asuwayama, why not try a dinosaur-related experience that is unique to Fukui? 🦖

It's a 30-minute ride by Fukuchari from Asuwayama ATARASHIYA. Next, we'll introduce the Leathersaurus® Workshop being held at killing_art!

Together with the leather dinosaur teacher, try leather crafting without needles or threads🔥 It is an experience that enhances imagination and concentration, starting with a talk about the importance of life to make a craft using cowhide. Choose from a wide variety of dinosaur and creature molds and create a one-of-a-kind piece!

At the end of your active Fukuchari course, why not try a hand massage taught by a professional? 😼

It's a 2-minute ride from kiling_art by bicycle. Finally, we'd like to introduce the "Hand Massage Workshop" held at the premium room for the mind and body, Canade! ♩

This is an experience where you will be lectured on "hand massage techniques"! Since you will be taught directly by a professional, it will have a high relaxing effect and you will be able to gradually relieve your daily fatigue! Since it is a group rate, we recommend participating with friends or family 🙆🏼‍♂️

About the spots around Asuwayama

There are many sightseeing spots around "Asuwayama ATARASHIYA" that we introduced this time. This time, we will introduce two sightseeing spots around Asuwayama: "Asuwayama Amusement Park" and "Asuwayama Shrine"!

Asuwayama Park Amusement Park

At the top of Mt. Asuwayama is the park known as Asuwayama Park Amusement Park!

Once you pass through the entrance to the amusement park, you will find the indoor mini zoo "Hapijan". Admission to this zoo is free! 🌟 You can see the animals that are kept free and interact with them directly!

Another great thing about this park is that it has a wide variety of play equipment! There are big slides, swings, rock climbing-style play equipment, and more! You can have fun being active with all the different play equipment. Even the most mischievous kids will be sure to be satisfied.

Asuwa Shrine

Asuwa Shrine, which enshrines Emperor Keitai and the five deities Ikasuri no Kami, can be reached by climbing the stairs on Atagozaka.

Asuwa Shrine has a history of over 1,500 years and is said to be the oldest shrine in Echizen.

The Takao maple and weeping cherry trees at Asuwa Shrine are registered as natural monuments, making it a place you'll want to visit again in the spring and fall🌸🍁✨ (The Hydrangea Road leading up to Mount Asuwa is also recommended!)
