Forest Adventure: An Invitation to the Woods

Forest Adventure, an outdoor recreation park, was born in France in 1997. As of June, 2017, there are 22 Forest Adventure parks in Japan, after the first park opened near Mt. Fuji.

This article is about the Forest Adventure Odawara, located in Kanagawa prefecture. Odawara is known as a sightseeing spot surrounded by a rich natural environment.

A Park Which Blends into the Woods

When a recreational park is built in the woods, trees are cut down in most cases. But Forest Adventure uses the existing trees as a part of the park equipment. So each park is unique, as the original landscape is reflected in its design.

At Forest Adventure Odawara, 300 year old trees, along with the stream running through the park, help to create a fantastic landscape.

Enjoying the Adventure

The visitors are first lectured about the safety procedures and park rules, in order to enjoy the experience and prevent accidents. They will be asked to operate the safety systems by themselves to move through the park, which is the core of this adventure.

With the equipment shown in the photograph, the visitors will be able to move between the trees.

Traveling ten meters up, sometimes jumping on to the webbing, while taking in the fragrance of the trees around them - what a thrill!

There are some spots where visitors might even feel weak in the knees, but that's what this adventure is about. The tense atmosphere will make a grown person feel like a child, and vice versa.

The long slide down the cable line is one of the highlights of the adventure. Odawara has the longest cable course among all the Japanese parks, so don't miss it.

To Fully Enjoy the Park

To understand the rules, at least one person in your group must be able to speak Japanese or English. Also, please keep in mind that visitors who are under 18 years old must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
