TORAYA CAFÉ AN STAND Shinjuku - Taste A Brand New Red Bean Sweet!
TORAYA CAFÉ AN STAND was created by the established wagashi shop Toraya. Located on NEWoMan 2F, the shop has a menu where you can taste red bean in new ways with the shop-limited red bean roll and drinks that express the seasons.
Originality in the Shop Interior and Takeout Products!
The interior consists of rounded tables and stools where customers can eat their sweets in a warm atmosphere.
Let’s focus on the tile image inside. This design symbolizes TORAYA CAFÉ AN STAND and depicts a male and female tiger sitting close together. It has a charming ambience to it. It just makes you want to stop by without realizing it.
Drinks made for takeout are given a cup sleeve. Did you notice how the logo printed on the sleeve is a T and is the initial for TORAYA CAFÉ AN STAND? The logo is meant to represent melting red bean paste.
Bring Home Red Bean Paste as a Souvenir
After eating the red bean roll, how about getting the red bean paste that was used in it as a souvenir? Azuki Red Bean Paste (648 yen plus tax for small bottle) is a velvety, easy to use product of pureed red bean paste made with brown sugar and maple syrup.
The paste can not only be put on bread, but also has great compatibility with dairy products like ice cream and milk. There is also a card inside the shop that introduces different ways the red bean paste can be used, so definitely please use it as reference.
By the way, our writer enjoyed the paste on crackers together with whisky. The red bean paste has a smooth texture and brings out the flavor of the ingredients it is eaten with, making it also go extraordinarily well with alcohol.
Seasonal red bean pastes, such as white sesame seed and kinako (roasted soy flour) flavors are also available, so you might be conflicted about which to choose.
There are also baked sweets that deliciously combine Japanese and Western ingredients, like the Red Bean and Cocoa Fondant, a mix of pureed and whole red bean paste and chocolate that is then baked, that are perfect for souvenirs. Gifts that have been combined with red bean paste are also available.
The café’s seasonal menu is rich in options that you won’t become tired of no matter how many times you visit. Definitely, please try tasting the new charms of red bean paste at TORAYA CAFÉ AN STAND.
