Cherry Blossom Viewing Water Cycling: A Spring Event You Can Experience at Hoshino Resorts BEB5 Tsuchiura

Hoshino Resorts BEB5 Tsuchiura is the first hotel in Hoshino Resorts where you can enjoy bicycles.

From March 25th to April 10th, 2023, we will hold an event called "Cherry blossom viewing Water Cycling" where you can have the superb view of cherry blossoms all to yourself from the surface of the river.

This event will be held at Shinkawa, a famous cherry blossom spot in Tsuchiura City, which is close to BEB5 Tsuchiura. You can enjoy cherry blossom viewing in a different way by riding a personal water bicycle that allows you to ride on water. This place, where cherry blossom trees continue for about 2km on both sides of the river, is one of the leading cherry blossom viewing spots in Tsuchiura.

While enjoying the spectacular view of the cherry blossoms, you can enjoy water cycling with sashima tea and sakuramochi from Shichino, a Japanese sweets shop that has been loved by locals for many years.

Feature 1: A water bicycle for enjoying cherry blossom viewing!

In this event, you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing while cycling on the water with a personal water bicycle.

Water bicycles are highly stable and have excellent performance to prevent waves and wind, so you can enjoy water cycling comfortably. The normal speed is about 10km/h, so you can enjoy the cherry blossom arch as you progress slowly.

A personal water bicycle can change direction just like a normal bicycle by turning the steering wheel. When getting on and off, our staff will support you, so no need to worry!

Feature 2: Enjoy cherry blossoms all to yourself from the water

The Shinkawa River runs through Tsuchiura City from east to west. About 200 Somei Yoshino cherry trees are lined up on both banks for about 2 km.

Branches are spread widely from both banks to create an arch of cherry blossoms, so the cherry blossoms are reflected on the surface of the river.

Unlike on the ground, there are no cherry blossom viewers on the river, so you can enjoy the approaching cherry blossoms all to yourself.

Feature 3: Sakura Mochi, loved by locals

Japanese sweets are must bring item to enjoy cherry blossom viewing even more.

We offer Sakura Mochi inspired by cherry blossoms from the locally loved Japanese sweets shop Shichino, which has been in business for 70 years in Tsuchiura. It is a small size that you can eat with one hand so that you can enjoy it while watching the cherry blossoms on the water.

We will also prepare Sashima tea, which is mainly produced in Ibaraki's Sarushima plateau and is characterized by its rich aroma and richness.
