Yufu City, Oita Prefecture (Yunohira, Yufuin, Tsukahara) Model Course Introduction

Start at Yufuin Station

It takes 2 hours and 14 minutes by limited express from JR Hakata Station to Yufuin Station. (46 minutes by limited express from Oita Station)

It's okay to head to the center of Yufuin from here, but I'll dare to change trains here and head south to Yunohira Onsen.

Day 1 at Yunohira Onsen

About 11 minutes from Yufuin Station. Get off at Yunohira Station, the second stop. (Please note that local trains only open and close the doors of car No. 1.)

It takes about 10 minutes by car from here to Yunohira Onsen.

Yunohira Onsen is about 500 meters above sea level. It is a mountain hot spring area surrounded by beautiful mountains and rich in nature.

A mountain stream called "Kagonogawa" flows through the center of the hot spring town.

The lodging you will stay on the first day is Ryokan Yamashiroya.

Although it is a small, family-run inn, it is visited by many guests from Japan and abroad every day.

Dinner is 11 dishes, mainly Bungo beef grilled on a ceramic plate. It doesn't look flashy, but it boasts a simple home-cooked taste.

You can enjoy the dishes that are brought one after another, such as "Eggplant Miso Dengaku", which is delicious with secret dengaku miso.

There are four baths in total (large and small open-air baths, large and small indoor baths), all of which can be reserved for private use.

Feel free to use it with your family and friends.

Stroll around Yufuin on the second day

On the second day, we will take the train back to Yufuin Station and take a walk around Lake Kinrinko in the center of Yufuin.

There are many souvenir shops here, and many tourists visit every day.

Among them, I would like to introduce “Yufuin Yukiya”, which is said to be one of the oldest.

“Yufuin Yukiya” is located right next to Lake Kinrinko.

The store has a wide selection of products, and the products that reflect the owner's taste are characteristic.

To Tsukahara Kogen, a little away from the center

After strolling through the town of Yufuin, let's go to Tsukahara Kogen, which is located a little north of Yufuin.

Even in Yufuin, this is a highland area with vast green spaces.

As an inn for the second day, I would like to introduce “Sanso Donguri”.

At Sanso Donguri, you can enjoy a relaxing time in five different cottages surrounded by nature.

We also offer "Bungo Beef Sukiyaki" for dinner.
