My husband and I will be participating in Japan's three major music festivals, ``FUJI ROCK''! What are the best items for sleeping in a car?

What is Fuji Rock (FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL)?

FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL, held in Niigata Prefecture, is one of Japan's three major music festivals. Many fans gather at the festival venue not only from Japan but from all over the world.

Approximately 130,000 music fans visited Fuji Rock in 2019 over 4 days including the eve festival! It was crowded with many people.

Some people may be wondering, "Why is it called Fuji Rock?" even though it is held at Naeba Ski Resort in Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture.

My husband and I are currently traveling around Japan and planned to stay in Hokkaido for two months from July to August of this year.

``Fuji Rock'' was born in the summer of 1997 and was originally held at Fuji Tenjinyama Ski Resort in Yamanashi Prefecture at the foot of Mt. Fuji. In 1999, the venue was moved to Naeba Ski Resort in Yuzawa-cho, Niigata Prefecture, but the event has continued to be held as Fuji Rock without changing its name.

However, as a result of applying to a certain outdoor brand's SNS campaign, I won a pair of tickets (3-day ticket) to Fuji Rock, so I suddenly changed my plans!

I decided to change my stay in Hokkaido for a month from the end of June to the end of July to coincide with the Fuji Rock event, July 26th to 28th, and participate in the Fuji Rock event.

We drove to Naeba Ski Resort, the venue for Fuji Rock, and spent the night there during the festival.

Since there are only a few hotels available locally, there is space within the venue where you can stay overnight in tents or in your car (Moon Caravan). In fact, there were quite a few people staying in tents or in their cars.

This is where we stayed in the car at Fuji Rock!

There are many parking lots around the Fuji Rock venue, but there are many places where sleeping in your car is prohibited, so be sure to inquire in advance to confirm.

There was a restroom behind where we parked that was open 24 hours a day. The toilets are well-maintained and always clean. You can use it with confidence.

Also, if you want to sleep in your car at Fuji Rock's official parking lot, you will need a Moon Caravan ticket. Please note that unless you have purchased a Moon Caravan ticket, sleeping in your car in the official parking lot is prohibited.

The temperature drops in the mornings and evenings, making it comfortable!

Since I was sleeping in my car in the middle of summer, my biggest concern was the heat. Especially on the first day, July 26th, the highest temperature was 34 degrees! It was quite hot during the day, and I was worried that it would be difficult to sleep in the car.

However, contrary to my expectations, the temperature dropped at night and I felt so chilly that I had to cover myself with a blanket to sleep. I was able to sleep comfortably until morning without feeling the heat.

Advantages of sleeping in your car during festivals and events

Fuji Rock is held for a long time from 10:00 to 5:30 the next day. Since the event was held under the scorching sun, there were several times when I felt hot or tired and wanted to take a break.

However, since we were sleeping in the car near the venue, if we got tired, we could return to the car, take a short nap, and return to Fuji Rock once we felt refreshed.

There wasn't much space to sleep or rest inside the venue, so having a car nearby was really helpful.

Our car is designed to allow you to sleep in the car, and there is a bed inside the car, a fan to keep you warm, and a screen door, so you can have a comfortable stay with good ventilation.

I was able to enjoy Fuji Rock to my heart's content by listening to music, taking a break in my car when I felt a little tired, and then going back to listen to music when I felt better.

Recommended items for festivals and sleeping in the car

The most recommended item for summer festivals is the "Leisure Sheet." During outdoor events such as festivals, you will be spending the whole day outside, so it is very important to take frequent breaks.

Whenever we felt tired, we would spread out the leisure sheets we had brought with us and sit down to take a break or eat a meal.

Folding chairs are also very convenient to have. The chair, which can be folded into a small size for storage, is a great addition to summer festivals. We used it when eating meals outside, but you can also enjoy music while sitting.

The last item we recommend is a mobile battery and portable power source.

If you spend a long time inside the venue, your smartphone will run out of charge. Even in such a case, you can feel safe if you have a mobile battery. You can now use your smartphone without worrying about the remaining battery level.

There is a charging space inside Fuji Rock, but it is far from the main venue and is used by many people, so we cannot recommend it. If you use a mobile battery inside the venue, you won't have to go all the way to charge it.

In addition, I used a portable power source to charge my smartphone and use a fan in the car. If you have a mobile battery and a portable power source, you can use your smartphone and electronic products with peace of mind.
