Hello. I'm Mariko, a Nakano Tourism Reporter. I'm currently in the middle of raising two children, ages 1 and 2, who are close together, and the thing I struggle with the most when looking for a place to go on the weekends is finding a park that's just right. It's not easy to find a park that's just right, with an energetic 2-year-old who runs around everywhere, and a 1-year-old who's just trying to walk while holding on to something, so I'm having a hard time finding a park that both of them can enjoy. For parents who are struggling to find a park like ours, or who want to enjoy a picnic or weekend event, I would like to recommend Hiromachi Mirai Park in Nakano, Tokyo, which I will introduce this time.

There is a shop. You can also have a picnic in the green space, so it's a park the whole family can enjoy.

The park is spacious enough for many children to run around and play, and is equipped with facilities such as ramps and toilets with diaper changing stations, so it is also suitable for those bringing strollers. (There is also a nursing space and bicycle parking area.)

You can also lay out a picnic blanket and enjoy a picnic in the green, multi-purpose plaza. There are plenty of events for the whole family to enjoy, such as yoga classes, running classes, and open-air markets, as well as food trucks, mainly on weekends.

The experiential learning center attached to the park hosts craft activities, parent-child English conversation classes, ukulele classes, calligraphy classes, and more on different days of the week.

There was also a shop on the first floor of the experience learning center. Bringing drinks and snacks from home can be a hassle... but it's great to be able to get them locally. It was a summer day and the weather was very nice, so I was more attracted to the gelato than the kids... (It was before lunch, so I had to hold back... lol)

This large playground equipment, which is a combination of athletic equipment and a slide, is full of mechanisms that stimulate children's curiosity. As soon as we entered the park, my two-year-old ran straight for this large playground equipment! He tried out various athletic equipment and slid down the slide again and again... He also seemed to enjoy the fact that there were several routes to reach the top of the slide, and he played with great excitement, going here and there, drenched in sweat. The stairs on both sides of the equipment also seemed to attract children's interest, and he went up and down them many times. The adults accompanying him were a little tired... but oh, it was great exercise (lol).

There are two slides, but this one is wider, so I was able to support my one-year-old daughter, who is still unable to slide down by herself, and slide down side by side. Normally, she slides down the slide while sitting on an adult's lap, but on this slide, she felt like she was sliding down by herself, so she looked very satisfied.

This playground equipment is also recommended for small children. My daughter, who has recently become fond of rabbits, was also happy to ride it. (There are tigers too!)

You can also experience planting and harvesting vegetables at the Mini Farm - Potager

I learned that there are volunteer opportunities to take care of plants at the potager (French for "vegetable garden"), where seasonal vegetables, fruit trees, herbs, etc. are grown. You can experience everything from planting to harvesting. I wonder what I can do. I'm sure I'll pop in every time I come here.

A park you can enjoy anytime, any number of times

There are also other facilities such as a ball play area (9:00-18:00 from April to October, 9:00-16:30 from November to March), a water play area that can be used for a limited time, the Wind Square and observation deck that overlook the entire park, making it a park you'll want to visit again and again. There are also monthly and seasonal events, so you can always enjoy something new. Why not come and visit with your children or for a walk on your day off?
