Experience harvesting at Roadside Station Tango Kingdom "Food Kingdom"

Located in northern Kyoto Prefecture, this is one of the largest roadside stations in western Japan, and is located within the grounds of Tango Kingdom "Food Kingdom."

In the "Harvesting Experience" area, you can pick seasonal vegetables and fruits.

Onions, Manganji peppers, sweet potatoes, blueberries, mandarin oranges, etc.

You can harvest vegetables and fruits that have been carefully grown without pesticides by the roadside station's plant specialists.

No reservations or belongings are required, so you can enjoy the experience at your leisure.

Salt making experience at Tango Kinusio

Tango Silk Salt is located within the grounds of Tango Kingdom "Food Kingdom," one of the largest roadside stations in western Japan, also located in northern Kyoto Prefecture.

This new store is scheduled to open in March 2024 and will be Tango Kinusio's first directly operated store.

The store sells carefully selected salt, as well as condiments such as miso and soy sauce made with that salt, as well as mitarashi dango and salt cider.

We also have salt-making experiences available by reservation, so you can make your own salt as a memento of your visit to the Sea of Kyoto area, or as a souvenir.

Workshop at TANGO OPEN CENTER

TANGO OPEN CENTER is a facility that opens a silk fabric refining and processing plant to the public and houses a permanent directly managed store.

There are factory tours where you can see the refining process, which is an important step in making Tango Chirimen,

They hold workshops that allow people to experience the fascinating world of Tango Chirimen.

Factory tours are held five times a day, each lasting about an hour (fees apply).

Making lanterns at Kojimaan

This lantern workshop moved from Kyoto City to Kyotango City in 2021 and now has a studio on the seafront in Amino Town.

Visit the Japanese swordsmith and make a paper knife at Nihon Genshosha

Nippon Genshosha Co., Ltd. relocated from Tokyo to Kyotango City in 2021.

The company is a modern swordsmith aiming to create Japanese swords that reflect the current times, and is focusing on the production and sale of Japanese swords. It also works to promote the popularity of Japanese swords through the production of products made from tamahagane steel and demonstrations at events. (Excerpt from the official website)

Here you can observe the swordsmithing process and experience making a paper knife.

A blacksmith's workshop is where Japanese swords are made and where you can also view them.

You can see the traditional production process without using any machines, and experience the sound, heat, and power.

You will create a usable paper knife using tamahagane, the material used to make Japanese swords.

You can experience things like striking hot iron with a hammer, blowing air into a bellows, and starting a fire.

Once you've finished making it, you can take it home in Nihon Genshosha's original "fountain pen-shaped sheath."

Advance reservations are required for both tours, so please make your reservation at least two days before the date you wish to participate.

Yuhigaura SUP experience

On a SUP (stand up paddle board),
