HELLO KITTY'S PICNIC GARDEN: Limited-Time Roppongi Event

Step into a storybook picnic with a modern twist! Hello Kitty is bringing a pop-up wonderland to Roppongi Hills this fall. From October 29 to November 14, HELLO KITTY’S PICNIC GARDEN transforms O-Yane Plaza into a photogenic English-garden playground, complete with a two-meter-tall Kitty-face gateway, houndstooth apple trees, scent-scented surprises, and plenty of picture-perfect nooks.

This free, limited-time installation is part of Sanrio’s Togetherness campaign ahead of Hello Kitty’s 55th anniversary and kicks off around HELLO KITTY WEEK (November 1–7). Whether you’re hunting for a sweet souvenir, a selfie backdrop, or a fragrant pick-me-up, this event promises a whimsical, feel-good outing for fans and newcomers alike.

Event highlights 

Iconic entrance and thematic design

Guests enter through an approximately 2-meter-tall Hello Kitty face–shaped gate that frames the installation and creates an immediate photo moment.

The picnic area fuses English garden elements (a nod to Hello Kitty’s London origin) with a modern houndstooth motif applied across props and scenery to create a cohesive, stylish visual theme.

Immersive picnic zone and staging

A grassy, picnic-style layout is staged with benches, blankets, and picnic props to simulate an intimate outdoor gathering, designed for small groups, families, and couples.

Multiple vignette areas are set up to encourage lingering and social sharing, ideal for photos, short videos, and influencer content.

Signature Hello Kitty features

The apple tree, a sculptural installation decorated in the event’s signature houndstooth pattern provide both a landmark and photo backdrop.

Hello Kitty objects and set pieces life-sized character motifs and picnic-related props allow visitors to pose as if they’re picnicking alongside Hello Kitty, increasing engagement and shareability.

Fragrance experience — What’s in the basket?

A curated scent area guides visitors through a tactile and olfactory journey intended to evoke memory and emotion. Attendees receive one complimentary mini fragrance bottle (one per person; while supplies last).

Four distinct fragrance concepts are offered to match different moods: Mom’s Apple Pie (warm, fruity, vanilla), A Small Flower Blooming in the Garden (floral), The Sound of the Piano After the Rain (fresh marine), and My Favorite Ribbon (herbal citrus). Bottles are presented at the venue for sampling and selection.

Merchandise and limited-edition goods

The Monochrome Girly Twins Coordinate Design Series includes 35 items, such as plush toys, secret mascot charms, mascot holders, and pouches, featuring Kitty and Mimmy in monochrome and houndstooth patterns.

Select items will be sold at the venue, Sanrio-managed stores nationwide, department store Sanrio corners, and the Sanrio online shop (availability varies by location). Price examples: plush toy 3,696 yen, secret mascot charm 990 yen. Purchase limits apply.

Limited-edition original stickers will be distributed to merchandise buyers on a first-come, first-served basis (one per person, while supplies last), adding an incentive for early shoppers.

Interactive digital tie-in: HELLO KITTY MAP

The HELLO KITTY MAP digital campaign launches globally on October 28, allowing users to post words of kindness at map spots and unlock special digital content.

The Roppongi installation will be featured as a spot on the map, linking the physical experience with online participation and encouraging a global exchange of kindness messages.

Accessibility, operations, and visitor flow

Admission is free; entry is managed via an advance lottery and same-day registration on a first-come, first-served basis to manage crowds and ensure safety.

Given the popularity of limited giveaways (fragrance mini bottles, stickers) and merchandise purchase limits, early arrival or securing access via the advance lottery is recommended. Sanrio notes the event may be canceled or modified and asks visitors to follow venue staff instructions.
