Seasonal Events at Toyama Castle Park

Early April: Cherry Blossom Light Up

From late March to early April, you can see the cherry blossoms blooming within the park. During the cherry blossom season, the castle museum also gets lit up so it is a great opportunity to go during this time.

Early August: Toyama Festival

During August, the Toyama festival is held around Toyama Castle Park. At this event, you can see the local Ecchu Owara Odori dance and Yosakoi Toyama where traditional yosakoi dances from Kochi can be seen along with other exciting outdoor live performances.

Firefly Squid Museum

A unique museum that is fifteen minutes by train from Toyama Station is the Firefly Squid Museum. It has displays of the local specialty, the firefly squid. Along with illumination shows with firefly squids, you can see many creatures from Toyama Bay up close.

Admission (Varies by Season):
March 18th-May 31st 2017: 800 yen for adults (high school and above), 400 yen for children (prices all include tax).
June 1st 2017-March 19th, 2018: 600 yen for adults (high school and above), 300 yen for children (prices all include tax).
Hours: 9:00-17:00 (last entry at 16:30).
Closed: Every Tuesday from June 1st-March 19th (if Tuesday is a holiday, closed the following day), end of the year, beginning of the year, and three days after the last Monday of January.
