Togoshi Ginza Shotengai is located in southern Tokyo, which is near Haneda Airport. The closest stations are Togoshi-ginza Station along the Tokyu Ikegami Line and Togoshi Station along the Toei Asakusa Line.

There are around 400 shops found across the 1.3-kilometer-long shopping street! In fact, it is famed for being the longest shotengai in Tokyo.

While Togoshi Ginza is a pillar of local life, there are days when over 10,000 visitors come to this lively street. The place somehow manages to retain a nostalgic atmosphere despite its popularity.

2) The First Street with the Name "Ginza"

Are you familiar with the high-end shopping neighborhood of Ginza in Tokyo? Following in the glitzy district's footsteps, many regions in Japan have added "Ginza" to their street names. Togoshi Ginza is said to be the first shotengai to adopt this trend.

In 1923, the original Ginza was severely damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake. Residents in the Togoshi neighborhood repurposed bricks removed from the upscale shopping district for the renovation. That's why the main street began to be called "Togoshi Ginza".

3) Famous Spot for "Tabe-Aruki"!

Togoshi Ginza is frequently showcased on the Japanese media. In addition to being a popular sightseeing district, it's also where visitors can partake in "tabe-aruki," or eating while strolling. You might even encounter a TV program filming there!
