Kotobukiya: A History Spanning 65 Years
Kotobukiya (Kotobukiya Co., LTD.) was established in 1953.
Although the company started as a toy store, Kotobukiya developed original plastic model kits of Rei Ayanami and Evangelion Unit-00, both from Neon Genesis Evangelion, which started a boom of action figures.
Now Kotobukiya handles various items, from original model kits to 3-D figurines of cute girls.
Known as "Bukiya" to fans, the company is praised for bringing out the most appealing aspects of each character.
The Kotobukiya Akihabara Store is located a three minute walk from JR Akihabara Station. From the Akihabara Electric Town Exit of the JR station, cross Chuo Dori and keep walking. Turn right at the first alley, and the store will be on your left side.
Kotobukiya operates three stores in Tokyo and Osaka, along with an online shop. The Akihabara Store is the largest of its kind in the area, where rival shops line the streets.
This store is directly managed by Kotobukiya, so some of their products come with custom parts.
Using these parts, you can further customize the figures purchased here.
