Muramatsu Park And Tulip Fields In Niigata - Come View The Blooms!
Muramatsu Park, one of Japan’s top 100 cherry blossom spots, is located in Gosen in Niigata prefecture. There is also a tulip field that stretches far and wide in Gosen. Why not experience Japan’s spring at these two places?
Gosen, a city that extends across the foot of Saganadake and Mt. Okura located about 30 – 40 minutes by car from Niigata Station, is an area where water is aplenty and much of its natural state still thrives. It’s because of this that Gosen has splendid flowers that flourish one after another; from Asian skunk cabbage, hepatica, and cherry blossoms to tulips and moutan peonies. We’ll be introducing the cherry blossoms of Muramatsu Park and the tulip fields in this article.
The best time to see the cherry blossoms is from the beginning to the middle of April while tulips are from the middle to end of April. Definitely please come and enjoy Japan’s flowers during these periods.

Upon parking and exiting your car in the spacious parking lot, you’ll immediately find cherry blossoms in full bloom stretched out and flowering before you. One sakura spot in Muramatsu Park is called Memorial Forest. When you proceed along the walkway in the center of the park and pass by the row of stalls, a cherry blossom spot lined entirely with sakura trees will come into view.
There are people that take their time enjoying the flowers in various ways here, like layout out a picnic blanket underneath the trees or sitting on the benches and chatting with one another. Flower viewing while eating food bought from the stalls has charm and sounds like a great idea for a warm spring day.
The park is also illuminated at night, showing another different side to the scenery in the daytime.
There was also a small pond when we left the cherry blossom-filled area. Fallen petals were collected in a corner of the pond as it was right around the time the cherry blossoms had begun to fall, giving the landscape an even more elegant touch.
The Muramatsu Park Cherry Blossom Festival is held every April with the setting up of several stalls. The fact that you can experience both Japanese tradition and a festival together with flower viewing will surely, without a doubt, become a fun day.
