Fresh-Brewed Tokyo Craft Beer! Y.Y.G. Brewery And Beer Kitchen
Are you interested in delicious craft beer, only a short walk from Shibuya Station? Visit Y.Y.G. Brewery & Beer Kitchen for original Tokyo brews!
An Plentiful Array of Beers, from Domestic to Original Brews
The Shinjuku Pale Ale and Yoyogi Amber Ale (both 800 yen a glass, before tax) are staples on the menu, and two or three original craft beers are in constant rotation. The items change once weekly, so customers can enjoy various beer flavors. Brews are chosen for being seasonally suitable. Low alcohol beers that can be gulped down to combat the heat are on offer in the summer, with citrus-y beers served to provide a refreshing flavor that counteracts the sticky air outside.
This time we ordered the Okushibu Session IPA Mosaic Version (900 yen plus tax). This beer is all about tropical fruitiness, from its aroma to its taste, and has very little of the bitterness associated with beer. For people unused to craft beer, IPAs are popular. We recommend them for people who want to savor the genuine aroma and flavor of their beer.
Head to the Restaurant for Food!
Head to the seventh floor restaurant by getting on the elevator next to the bar. Get off and open the heavy iron door to enter a free and open-feeling space.
Glass spheres of varying sizes are suspended from above, supposedly made to resemble beer foam. The menu changes from time to time, but everything served here goes very well with beer. We checked out some handpicked recommendations. Of course, the restaurant offers the same beers as the pub downstairs.
1. Jalapeno Poppers
Whole jalapenos stuffed with cheese, ham and bechamel sauce then deep-fried! Y.Y.G.’s jalapeno poppers (980 yen plus tax) were inspired by the popular American dish. Their crispy texture and sharp heat are truly addictive! If you can’t handle the spice, use the tartar sauce on the side to give your poppers a milder flavor. Enjoy the different taste variations.
Grilled Daisen Chicken
The Daily Chef's Special, grilled Daisen chicken, is a hearty dish of grilled free-range chicken from Tottori (1800 yen plus tax). Juicy without being too greasy, you can taste the deliciousness of the chicken itself. The simple flavors pair perfectly with beer, and you’ll want to have it again and again. The Chef’s Special changes every couple days, but the grilled Daisen chicken makes regular appearances on the menu, so check with the staff.
