Shibuya Scramble Square is a sightseeing and shopping facility connected to Shibuya Station that opened in 2019. The mall is most famous for Shibuya Sky, an observation deck standing at a height of 229 meters, but is actually home to more than 200 shops and restaurants.

The demographics for the fashion offered is men and women of all ages. The mall is home to both casual and luxury brands including a large UNITED ARROWS store and concept stores for KENZO, GIVENCHY, NIKE, and more.

Rieninal, a designer thrift store, opened a pop-up store when our writer visited in June 2024. It looks like there are multiple ways to enjoy the mall at various times.

Shibuya Hikarie is a shopping mall that opened in 2012 based around the concept of “becoming a light that connects the city, illuminates the future from Shibuya, and changes the world.” The mall is next to Shibuya Scramble Square and is home to 200 stores.

The mall’s main demographic are working women in their 20s to 40s. Compared to Shibuya Scramble Square, it gives the impression of carrying fashion and cosmetic products that are more luxurious and sophisticated.

SHIBUYA AXSH (Japanese), which will have an art gallery, restaurants, and more, will be directly connected to Hikarie and is scheduled to open sometime in 2024.

SHIBUYA109 is a shopping spot that has been at the forefront of fashion in Shibuya for girls in their teens and 20s.

The mall’s name is read as “ichi-maru-kyu.” It’s a wordplay on the alternative reading for the Tokyu (can be read as 10 (to) and 9 (kyu)) Group which manages the mall.

SHIBUYA109 spans across 10 floors from B2F to 8F and houses a total of 120 shops. The mall especially caters towards the “kawaii” (cute) fashion style for clothing and cosmetics.

MAGNET

MAGNET by SHIBUYA109 was originally the site of 109MEN’s, but underwent a makeover in 2018. The concept is “the excitement of Shibuya and revival of Shibuya culture.”

You’ll find stores for anime character goods, capsule toy machines, fashion from the US West Coast, and more in the shopping mall. Exhibits that feature anime and manga that are trending at the time are also sometimes held at the mall.

Miyashita Park, a famous spot in Shibuya, was redeveloped in 2020. It went through a complete makeover and became MIYASHITA PARK, an all-in-one park, commercial complex, and hotel.
