The Best Vacation Rental for Work and Relaxation

Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture, is home to two famous places. Chichibugahama Beach is hailed for having the most beautiful sunset in Japan while Mt. Shiude is Setouchi’s most notable cherry blossom spot.

URASHIMA VILLAGE (Japanese) is a vacation rental that opened here in January 2021. It’s the perfect place to recharge from the bustle of everyday life. Or, you can enjoy a work-ation—blending your leisure activities with business.

Is the Famed "Dragon Palace" Beyond These Gates?

URASHIMA VILLAGE

URASHIMA VILLAGE is located along the coast of the peninsula. Its gated entrance is constructed with the yakisugi (*1) method often seen around Setouchi.

*1 Yakisugi: a traditional method that involves charring the surface of Japanese cedar panels to enhance the wood's durability.

Upon walking through the doors, you'll be greeted by the bright, blue sea! It feels as if we’ve stepped into another world.

URASHIMA VILLAGE is located on the Shonai Peninsula: a land associated with the legend of Urashima Taro. The story recounts a young man who saved an injured turtle and was taken to the beautiful undersea Ryugujo (Palace of the Dragon King).

When staying at URASHIMA VILLAGE, it truly feels like you’ve stepped into the Dragon Palace!

There’s Even a Private Beach!

The vacation rentals have a walkway that leads down to the beach. You’ll encounter these hoops along the way. These circular rings are inspired by the chinowa-kuguri (cogon grass hoops), a purification rite commonly found at shrines in Japan to cleanse one’s mind and soul.

Of course, you can swim and fish on the private beach. During low tide, it's possible to head to the nearby remote isle, Maruyama Island.
