Showa Kinen Park – Points of Interest

Minna no Harappa (Everyone’s Field)

【東京都】1年中花が楽しめる昭和記念公園〜アクセス・見どころ・イベント〜

This open field has an area of 11 hectares. When the weather is fine, you can see a number of people spending their time here at a picnic and/or relaxing quietly.

Japanese Garden

昭和記念公園

The gardens were designed based on the park’s foundational principles, namely to give rebirth to nature and to improve humanity through harmony. Having not been built with artificial hills or islands like most Japanese gardens, it’s a place you’ll be able to really feel that Japanese natural beauty.

Bonsai Garden

昭和記念公園

Here you will find the first Japanese state-run bonsai exhibition hall where over 60 bonsai trees are exhibited. Inside the garden is a learning center where you can learn all kinds of things about bonsai trees. There, you’ll be able to receive easy to understand explanations on how to create your own bonsai trees at home.

Showa Kinen Park’s Seasonal Events

Flowers bloom in the park all throughout the year. In the spring you’ll be able to find cherry blossoms and tulips. In the summer, water lilies and sunflowers. In the autumn, cosmos and the autumn leaves changing color. And in the winter, sasanquas and plum blossoms, among others. You’ll be able to have a great time whenever you visit the park but we highly recommend coming during the Flower Festival season.

The End of March – End of May: Flower Festival

The liveliest time of the year at Showa Kinen Park is the spring. From the end of March through to the end of May is the best time to see an array of flowers, including cherry blossoms, rape blossoms, poppies and tulips. This time of the year is called the Flower Festival and on the weekends and holidays throughout this time, you’ll also be able to experience concerts, tea ceremonies and many more exciting activities at Showa Kinen Park.
