Falafel Brothers, Shibuya PARCO Branch - Making Vegan Food Fresh and Fun

Falafel Brothers, Tokyo - Ready-To-Eat, Fresh Vegan Dishes

Shibuya Parco branch
Falafel Brothers got its start in 2017 when the owners decided to make and sell traditional falafel in Tokyo. Made of spices and chickpeas, falafel in itself is vegan, and the Falafel Brothers, Amnon and Daisuke, wanted to keep it plant-based and vegan-friendly while cooking something that would satisfy to all diners––vegan or not. The first shop in Roppongi was a success, leading to expansion.

While falafel and traditional Middle Eastern cuisine is still rare in Tokyo, it is becoming more popular. Falafel Brothers is featured in numerous magazines and publications in Japan, and the owners continue to remain busy and passionate, expanding the menu and the restaurant to allow more people to taste delicious falafel.

Falafel Brothers currently has three locations in Tokyo: Shibuya, Roppongi, and Ebisu. The Shibuya branch opened in late 2019, and is located inside the Shibuya PARCO, a large shopping mall with department stores, dining, and entertainment facilities.

Head up to the seventh floor to get to Falafel Brothers––the restaurant is hard to miss with its funky, bright colors and cute falafel motifs throughout. Most of the restaurant's funky interior is handmade by the owners, including the one-of-a-kind falafel pita table.

After deciding your main dish, customize what goes into it: either lettuce, spinach, and kale for your base vegetable, two toppings, and a sauce. The toppings are playfully named, and include offerings like pickled carrots, purple cabbage, and baba ganoush (eggplant paste). Tahini sauce is available in a few varieties––even in a spicy version.

Pictured above is the Falafel Brothers' Sandwich (1,050 yen for full size) with kale, topped with purple cabbage and carrots, and the spicy Tahini sauce. Made fresh and to-order, the blend of flavors from the soft pita bread, sauce, crispy falafel, and crunchy vegetables are very satisfying. The spicy Tahini sauce is not overly spiced, and adding a hint of heat to the sandwich. Anyone craving falafel will be overjoyed with this hearty, healthy choice.
