3 minutes: From Tokyo Skytree Station to Asakusa Station

Riding a train from Tokyo Skytree Station (Tobu Skytree Line) to Asakusa Station is the shortest route.

Since the two stations are located next to each other, the ride takes about 3 minutes and costs 160 yen.

This is an affordable public transit with the least amount of time. It is perfect for those who want to move around inexpensively and time-efficiently.

The route to Tokyo Skytree Station is as follows. First, head for the west entrance, located on the fourth floor of the Skytree.

From there, turn right and keep walking. Turn left at the elevator, which heads to Sumida Aquarium.

Family Mart (a convenience store) will appear on the right side of the first floor.

Keep walking, and a sign will lead to Tokyo Skytree Station.

Turn right at the sign, and you will arrive at the east entrance (platform 2) of Tokyo Skytree Station.

The trains departing platform 2 are all headed away from Asakusa to Kita-Senju, Shin-Koshigaya, and Kasukabe. So, follow the pink arrow on the floor, and keep walking.

After a short walk, you will arrive at the ticket gates to platform 1, where Asakusa-bound trains depart.

Tokyo Skytree Station (Tobu Skytree Line), Ticket gates for Asakusa-bound trains.

The photograph above shows the gate for platform 1. All the trains are headed for Asakusa from this platform, so there is no way of going in the wrong direction. The ride takes about 3 minutes.

At Asakusa Station, the ticket gates are located on the platform floor. Exit the gate and use the stairs or the escalator to the ground level.

To reach Kaminari-mon (Thunder Gate), an Asakusa icon, head for the crossway to the right.

After a short walk along the shopping street covered by a roof, Kaminari-mon will appear on the right-hand side.

3 minutes: From Oshiage Station to Asakusa Station

Asakausa can also be reached from Oshiage Station (Toei Asakusa Line), another station near the Skytree.

Asakusa is two stations from Oshiage, and the ride takes about 3 minutes. The fare costs 180 yen.

First, head for the Solamachi Shotengai Shopping District on the first floor. Take the escalator by the information counter near the shotengai to the basement floor.

Oshiagae Station is located at the end of the escalator ride. Hanzomon Line ticket gates will be on the right-hand side, with Toei Asakusa Line ticket gates on the left-hand side. The Hanzomon Line does not stop at Asakusa, so be sure to go left.

The Asakusa-bound train leaves from platform 2.

10 minutes: Riding the Skytree Shuttle® to Asakusa

The Skytree Shuttle® is the most efficient bus service to Asakusa on weekends and national holidays.

The bus runs only on weekends and holidays, stopping at Tokyo Skytree, Kaminari-mon, and Ueno Station. The fare is 230 yen for adults and 120 yen for children.

There is also a special 1-day pass, which allows unlimited rides on the Ueno-Asakusa line. The fare is 420 yen for adults and 210 yen for children. It is perfect for sightseeing around the Asakusa/Ueno area.

From Tokyo Skytree Town, there are two buses per hour from 9:00 to 19:00 departing every 30 minutes.

To ride the shuttle, head for Solamachi Hiroba on the first floor of Skytree. It is in the middle of Solamachi, near Baskin-Robbins (ice cream shop) and Kua'aina (hamburger shop).

Look for the Tokyo Skytree sign between Baskin-Robbins and The Alley (tapioca shop).

The ride to the Asakusa-Kaminarimon bus stop takes about 10 minutes.

From Asakusa-Kaminarimon bus stop, it is a 3-minute walk to Kaminari-mon.

After getting off the bus, Tokyo Skytree will be on the left-hand side.

Walk toward the Skytree, and Kaminari-mon will appear on the left-hand side. Be sure to take the crossway.

From Asakusa-Kaminarimon bus stop, it is a 3-minute walk to the Asakusa Station of the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, a 4-minute walk to the Toei Asakusa Line station, and a 6-minute walk to the Tobu Line station.

Those who wish to go to Tsukuba Express Asakusa Station should get off at Asakusa View Hotel bus stop. From there, it is a 2-minute walk to Tsukuba Express station.

15 minutes: Riding the Toei Bus to Asakusa

The Skytree Shuttle currently operates only on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays. Those who wish to take the bus on weekdays should head for the Tokyo Skytree Eki Iriguchi bus stop of the Toei Bus.

The fare is 210 yen for adults and 110 yen for children. It takes about 10 minutes to the Tobu Asakusa bus stop.

Take the crossway, traverse Oshinari Bridge, and turn left.

A 7-Eleven store will appear on the right-hand side. Turn right at the corner of the building, and keep walking to a major thoroughfare at the end of the road.

At the thoroughfare, bus stop no. 3 and 4 will be on the left-hand side. They are not the final destination, so continue walking to the intersection.

Take the crossway extending towards Mitsubishi UFJ Bank.

After a short walk, no. 6 bus stop of Tokyo Skytree Eki Iriguchi will appear.

Be sure to get on a T-08 bus headed for Nippori Station.

It is a 10-minute ride to Tobu Asakusa bus stop.

20 minutes: A Walking Route to Enjoy the Local Scenery

It takes about 20 minutes to walk from Tokyo Skytree to the Asakusa area.

Tokyo Mizumachi, a shopping facility, and Sumida River Walk (Japanese), which traverses the river, are located along the way.

The following is the route from Tokyo Skytree Station to Asakusa Station.

Turn left from the east entrance of Tokyo Skytree Station.

After walking for about 2 minutes, Tokyo Mizumachi will appear to the left.

It is a commercial facility built under an elevated railway. There are eateries and shops, 15 in all, by Kitajukken River.

Keep on walking while browsing the stores, and there will be stairs ahead.

Climb the stairs, turn left, and head for the crossway to the right.

Traverse the crossway, turn right, and head towards Tokyo Mizumachi.

The facility is divided by a road into east and west zones, so there is no straight course.

Visitors will have to take a detour and use the crossway.

Sumida Park is located to the right of the west zone. Keep walking on the street between Tokyo Mizumachi and the park for about 2 minutes.

Turn left, and the Sumida River Walk entrance will appear.

There is a building with a public toilet. Follow the passage, which slightly turns right.

Traverse the crossway, which leads to the entrance of Tobu Line Asakusa Station.

The walking time is about 20 minutes.

10 minutes: Riding a Taxi to Asakusa

If you travel with friends or children, a taxi might be a good idea. There is a taxi stand on the first floor of Tokyo Skytree, so you don't need to call one.

It is a 10-minute drive to Tobu Line Asakusa Station. The fare is around 800 yen in the day and 1,000 yen at night.

To reach the stand, head for the west entrance on the fourth floor of Tokyo Skytree. From there, turn right and start walking. Turn left at the elevator, which leads to the Sumida Aquarium.
